P6 Outdoor LED Display Board Installed for Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchok
We have installed a P6 full-colour outdoor LED display board at Melamchi Koseli Ghar, at the Office of the Municipal Executive, Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchok. Commissioned on 29 October 2026, it runs the municipality's name and office identification in Devanagari, in white and red, and it is readable from the road below in daylight and after dark.
If you are a municipality, a government office, a school, or a hospital looking at an LED display board in Nepal, this post covers what the job actually involves — and what to ask before you buy one.
Why a Government Office Needs an LED Display Board
A painted board says one thing forever. An LED display board says whatever you need it to say today: office hours, service notices, tender announcements, public health messages, festival greetings, emergency information. For a municipal office that communicates with thousands of residents, that difference matters.
For the Melamchi Municipal Executive Office, the board does two jobs at once. It identifies the building — Melamchi Koseli Ghar — clearly from the street, and it gives the office a channel it can update without ordering a new sign every time.
What Goes Into an Outdoor LED Display Board
Most of the cost and most of the risk in an outdoor LED installation is not the panel. It is everything around it.
- Brightness rating. An indoor panel put outdoors washes out completely in daylight. Outdoor LED display boards need a far higher brightness rating, and that specification is the single most common thing suppliers quietly cut to win a quote.
- Weather sealing. Nepal's monsoon ends cheap LED boards. The cabinet, the cable entries, and the power supply all need proper ingress protection, not just a steel box.
- The mounting frame. The frame carries the panel through wind load for years. Ours are fabricated in our own workshop, which is why we can match the frame to the wall rather than hope a stock bracket fits.
- Power and earthing. LED boards draw real current and sit outdoors on a metal frame. Proper supply and earthing is a safety requirement, not an upgrade.
- Content control. Somebody at the office has to be able to change the message without calling a technician. If a supplier cannot show you how text gets updated, that is the answer.
- Devanagari rendering. Nepali text has conjuncts and matras that look wrong on a panel whose pixel pitch is too coarse for the character height. This is specific to Nepal and routinely overlooked.
What P6 Means, in Plain Terms
Pixel pitch is the distance between one LED and the next, measured in millimetres. P6 means six millimetres. A smaller number packs the LEDs closer together, which gives a sharper image and costs more; a larger number spreads them out, which is cheaper and coarser.
The number is not a quality grade — it is a viewing-distance decision. A widely used rule of thumb puts the comfortable minimum viewing distance in metres at roughly the pitch in millimetres, so a P6 board starts to look clean from about six metres back. Stand closer and you begin to pick out individual LEDs; stand further and it only looks better.
That is why P6 fits this building. People read this board from the road and the forecourt, not from arm's length, so a finer P3 or P4 would have cost considerably more to deliver detail nobody is close enough to see. Go the other way to a P10 and the Devanagari suffers first — conjuncts and matras are exactly the detail a coarse pitch loses, which is a trap specific to Nepali and Hindi signage that English-language spec sheets never mention.
So the question to ask is never "what pitch is best". It is "how far back will people read this from" — and then the smallest pitch your budget allows at that distance.
What an LED Display Board Costs in Nepal
LED display boards are quoted per square foot, and the figure moves with pixel pitch, brightness, indoor or outdoor rating, and installation access. Our current starting rates for LED boards and digital billboards are published on our pricing page — no form required.
What changes a quote most: the pitch you need, whether the board is single or full colour, the height it is mounted at, and whether the site needs scaffolding or after-hours work. Site location matters too — we install across Nepal, and work outside the Kathmandu valley carries travel and transport.
Installing Outside the Kathmandu Valley
Melamchi is in Sindhupalchok, not Kathmandu, and that is normal for us rather than an exception. We handle fabrication at our own workshop, transport, mounting, electrical connection, and commissioning as one job, so the office is not left coordinating three suppliers. You can see the districts we cover across all seven provinces.
Thinking About an LED Display Board?
Whether it is a municipal office, a school, a hospital, a showroom, or a storefront, the questions are the same: how far away will people read it from, how bright does it need to be, who updates the content, and how does it get power.
Tell us the location and roughly how large you need it, and we will come back with a firm quote — usually the same working day. See our digital billboards and LED display boards, or send us the details.
